WE Leadership Conference 2018
Empowerment to take action on issues to make a difference. This was the underlying theme of this year’s WE Schools Leadership Conference held on October 17 at the Movietowne Conference Centre. Maple Leaf was represented by Ms. Gena Mohammed, two Grade 10 students who participated earlier this year in the WE trip to Ecuador and the 2018-2019 Student Council Presidents.
The WE Schools is a service learning program that empowers educators and students with skills, knowledge and motivation to bring about positive change in themselves and the world. Students participated in workshops on volunteerism, service leadership and action planning. The educator workshops provided tools and resources on running a WE Schools Leadership program effectively and conducting experiential service learning in the classroom. Maple Leaf’s WE Leadership group will use what was learnt to take action on an issue for meaningful change.
