Kinesiology time!
Our Grade 12 Kinesiology students were tasked with constructing a model of a synovial joint; the joints that allow larger movements like the elbow, knee or hip joint. Their teacher, Mrs. Ross-Kydd, challenged the students to replicate the exact anatomy of the joint recreating the bones, ligaments, muscles, tendons, bursae and cartilage.
At the ‘Online Anatomy Fair’ students presented their models while describing the type of joint, its movement and primary structures associated with the joint. They also discussed one common injury at this joint and one current medical procedure for treatment (e.g. arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, joint replacement).
