Maple Leaf Visual Art students in Grades 11 and 12 presented their culminating activity for Semester 1 as an exhibit, coordinated by the Secondary Art teacher, Ms. Shannon Alonzo. This collective presentation of works from nine students encompassed their diverse energies, drive and artistic expression. Each student exhibited an average of eight to ten pieces in a variety of subject matter and media. The public was invited to view the exhibit on the evening of Tuesday 16th January in the Great Hall of the school.
The evening was well attended and guests enjoyed the display of talent and creativity, especially the installations and the artists sketch books, which reflected each artist’s journey to their final pieces. Local artist, Rebecca Foster, attended the exhibition and commented “I was blown away by the sheer talent and skill that these students possess! It was a well-rounded show with many thought -provoking works of art. I look forward to seeing more work featured by these talented young artists.”
The Grade 12 Food and Nutrition students catered the event by providing some delicious, freshly prepared nibbles for the evening. Guests were treated to bruschetta, quesadillas, mini sandwiches, bean salad and hummus dip with vegetables.
